Hey
Friends & Family -
I am hoping my fantastic friends
and colleagues plus "six degrees of separation"
can help me connect with the right people on some
fantastic open positions at Sephora.
I have been at Sephora for over three months and I have
to tell you it is a phenomenal organization. Our retail
stores are growing rapidly and our website at sephora.com
is the Number One Beauty site in the world. Despite the
tough economy, our business is booming.
I head up our Analytics Group here and my team works on a
very wide variety of projects including analyzing our
customer database, marketing research projects, measuring
our web site traffic, targeting our catalog mailings and
the financial forecasting for the Internet division. We
also support targeting our email and helping to optimize
our search engine advertising.
Three positions on my Analytics team are currently open
and there are two openings in the extended Internet team
we work directly with. Since the best hires always come
from referrals, I just wanted to get these job openings
out among my contacts, in hopes that you might know
someone qualified who would love to work for a fun
company in an energetic environment.
All of these positions are somewhat technical and each
requires a different set of specific work experiences, so
I would appreciate it if you could pass this note along
to your friends with the right backgrounds in case they
are interested, or have other folks they know.
We are looking for the following:
MARKETING CONSULTANT/BUSINESS ANALYST - the right
candidate will likely be a relatively recent MBA from a
strong school who might have worked for a couple years at
a consulting firm like McKinsey or Bain. The position
will report to me, but spend 30-50% of their time working
directly with my boss, the head of the Direct Division.
The job has two main areas of focus. One on forecasting
the business and the other on putting together plans and
decks for new marketing initiatives similar to an
external consultant. An amazing opportunity to gain hands
on experience in what makes an Internet business
successful. Great career builder for someone already on
the path to senior marketing management at a large
Internet business. The job could be anywhere from a
Manager / Sr. Manager / Director level depending on
experience. Retail or Beauty experience is a plus. Some
form of Internet marketing background is very helpful.
WEB ANALYTICS GURU - OK, I didn't use the word "Guru" in
the official job title, but a guru or budding guru is
what I need. We are in the process of transitioning our
web site traffic measurement systems from Core Metrics to
Omniture. The transition has gone very well, but we are
coming out of the implementation phase and are ready to
find the right person to come in and establish a new
level of understanding of how our visitors use our web
site. Will work very closely to partner with our email,
search and web development teams. Core Metrics experience
is acceptable, Omniture experience is ideal. Probably a
Manager / Sr. Manager level, but will try to match to
experience level.
CATALOG CIRCULATION AND ANALYSIS - A college grad with 2
- 5 years of experience in analytical positions. Work
with our team to target our direct mail and
catalogs to the right customers, and measure the success
of those efforts. Strong Excel experience a must.
Previous direct mail experience preferred. Any background
in either Omniture/Core Metrics or Email targeting is
helpful. SAS experience is also a bonus, but might not be
mandatory. This position will likely cross-train with
other analytic functions over time, so there are very
good career growth options.
Plus on our extended team we need...
SEARCH ANALYTICS MANAGER - We also have an opening on our
extended team for someone with Search Marketing
experience and a strong analytic bent. We have recently
upgraded our search tools and looking for the right
person to expand and improve our Search program.
DIRECTOR OF WEB PRODUCTION - Manages a team of Producers
for overall scheduling, production and management of web
content for Sephora.com. Supports business plans and
manages the client experience. This team manages the
content pushes and overall site initiatives.
SO... if you know anyone who might be interested in
knowing about a new opportunity please pass along. And
remember, if you know someone who is not interested in
making a change -- but does this type of work -- they
probably know other people who do.
Thanks in advance for all of you help and for forwarding
this to your friends in CONSULTING, WEB ANALYTICS, DIRECT
MARKETING, SEARCH and WEB PRODUCTION.
